Oliver Meunier dominates the final in 1:8 Nitro GT3 Spec at Lloret de Mar
Lloret de Mar was the venue for the third round of the first ever VRC PRO 1:8 Nitro GT3 Spec Series. The simple layout, combined with the limited set-up options of the 1:8 Nitro GT3 Spec chassis, provided for extremely close racing.
PRO LEVEL
The 10-minute qualifying round was extremely tight in the Pro Level. Qualifying saw 9 of the top 10 racers complete 41 laps; separated by only 8 seconds. In fact, the top three qualifiers were separated by less than half a second. Kevin Bacon (US) took the top qualifying position with 41 laps in 10:00.252, just .3 seconds ahead of fellow American Joshua Berman, who was less than .2 seconds ahead of Oliver Meunier (DE). CLASH OF THE TITANS AT LLORET DE MAR
PRO LEVEL
American ‘Juggernaut’ Joshua Berman looked to defend his 1.8 Nitro Sportscar Spec Series title in the first event of the second series in 2017. Ireland’s Austin Elliot, Series 1 third place finisher, set the pace early with a 30 lap 07:13.772 run. Shortly thereafter the Juggernaut, posted a 30 lap 7:11.882 run. American Kevin Bacon, Series 1 second place finisher, posted a 30 lap 7:09.358, besting Berman by over 2 seconds. But Berman wasn’t done. He quickly posted another run of 30 laps 7:06.882; 5 seconds faster than his first run and looked untouchable.
Enter 7x’s VRC World Champion Jeffrey Rietveld of the Netherlands. Rietveld topped Berman’s run with an impressive 30-lap 7:02.992. Rietveld’s run was nearly four seconds faster than Berman and contained something that no other run contained… 13.7 second laps. To this point only a handful of racers had even touched 13.9 second laps. Berman had posted 13.8s, but Rietv... read more

SEASON 2016 electric nascartruck modified, round 9, Lloret de Mar
TIMED PRACTICE
In timed practice, comparing to earlier events, nothing spectacular happened.
Once again, Italian talent Andrea Giordano was the furiost and was setting the pace to others.
Switzerlands Patrick Bader was closest to Giordano, but almost five seconds behind.
Behind Bader, was another Italian laprobot, Tommaso Andreuccetti. Andreuccetti had good run and was only 1.5 seconds slower than Bader. Fourth fastest, Finlands Jukka-Pekka Huhtala was in pretty same pace as Andreuccetti, only 0.1seconds behind. Fifth place went Switzerland Philippe Gross, difference to leader 8,6 seconds.
So, Giordano had came here with very aggressive style and good setup. With his average, he was allready in this point, one top candidates to take this event.
