Another exciting season is under our belt. This was the first season where all events were split up in 3 racer classes Club, Sport and Pro. Looking at the results we can conclude that this has produced much more evenly contested championships in all of the classes. With 5 modified classes, 5 spec classes and 3 champions per class we now celebrate 30 new champions!

Racer classes, promotion and demotion
At the end of the first season with racer classes we are keeping an eye on who moves up in the racer class and who doesn’t. Remember, when your measured skill level goes up to a higher class you will race in the higher racer class next season. When your skill level remains the same you may opt to race in a higher racer class next season or stay in the same class. A racer cannot race in a lower racer class than his skill level indicates.

The skill level is measured every event you participate in and is always weighed against results of other racers in the same class. So when you do more events and... read more

PRO class modified
Martin Wollanka from Austria dominated Season 3 with 4 victories in 4 appearances, so he is the undisputed winner. Kirby ‘Sideways’ Backemeyer (US) and new kid on the block Rob Gillespie (US) completed the podium. 14-Year old Nicolas Loriot from France came up strongly towards the end of ... read more

Virtual RC vs Real RC
I would like to take a moment to give the positive and negative points of VRC and Real RC. First I will start with the positive.

Virtual RC
VRC is fun, racing online is quick a person can literally race anytime 24 hours a day 7 days a week. VRC Cars are perfectly tuned every time, they never have to be cleaned and when you crash the parts stay intact.

Real RC
Real RC Racing has many positives, there are great people at the track, track conditions are affected by weather and change throughout the day. Track food is always good everything tastes better with a little dirt in it. “Custom Painted Bodies.” Making new friends, and just getting out of the house sometimes is a great reason to go to the track.

Conclusion
Why bother with the negative, I’m sure everyone has their own list of negatives I will keep mine to myself. VRC is a perfect... read more

Report by Donald Stark (VRC race reporter)

What does 3D Suspension and RC Excitement 2013 have in common? They are both fresh off the drawing board and both were the starts this weekend. After many comments concerning the set-up problems associated with the new model it seems that lap times began dropping like prices at Wal-Mart on Black Friday.

The Track
RC Excitement 2013 is a nice little track with great traction and mild jumps that flow through a 10 turn layout. Driving smooth tight lines is the way to run a fast lap. In order to do this the setup is paramount, this led many drivers to reach into the set-up files and begin testing. Some great files were released and the competition heated up. I predicted that a high 14 second lap would be possible but it turned out that the best lap on RCE 13 is, 15.457 by Nicolas Loriot.

NEW CHASSIS

The chassis in the 13.5 class does not support many adjustments at all so all c... read more

More Features More fun
I am willing to bet that most people reading this article and or playing this game don’t know exactly how to utilize all of the features that are built in to make your practice and racing experience more enjoyable. I will explain three key features right now, event replays, club races, and Participating official Season events.

Blast into the past with event replays
When you launch the game execution file you end up in the pits looking at the top of the page there are several options. From left to right the options are:
Practice - Timed Trial - Events - Multiplayer - Replay - Car Setup

I would like to focus on the events options right now and more specifically replays. IMPORTANT! This is the Event Replay Saved on the VRC Server not the replays you save on your computer. When you select events the menu will load, at the top left you have two options, current events or past events.
I like to go back to the past events and run my practice sessions like this. I go to... read more

Dynamic Racing Community
VRC world has a message board that is active 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Users offer suggestions and input concerning upcoming releases and race format. Users are encouraged to voice their opinions; the developers are always looking for ways to improve the SIM. One improvement soon to release is the 3D suspension (3DS) that will debut on the short course trucks.

Get Your Glasses, 3D Coming Soon!
It’s not your grandmothers 3D, you don’t need special glasses or a new video card. This 3D is about how the chassis reacts in the virtual world. Just as your real cars react to physical properties of inertia, force and friction based on the track and speed traveled so will the 3D car react in the virtual world. The new chassis has 76 animated suspension and steering parts. The 'Todd' has been locked away in a MAN CAVE with nothing more than Dr. Pepper, skittles ... read more

Asynchronous vs Synchronus R/C racing

There are two forms of electronic communication, Synchronous and Asynchronous. We have more ways to connect than ever before. News travels at the speed of light and more and more people have access to technology. Why is it so difficult to meet and race in a multiplayer event on VRC? The answer to that question is simple; VRC is best suited to Asynchronous RC Racing. Live multiplayer racing is very fun. Time zones and busy schedules keep many from that type of competition in the Virtual world.
Synchronous communication requires two parties to be present at the same time in a prompt and response style communication in real time, such as speaking on the phone or on skype. Asynchronous communication is the preferred form of communication now; this requires less commitment to time and allows the parties involved time to respond when it is convenient.
