2021 VRC WORLDS 1:8 NITRO BUGGIES BUMP-UP FINALS

The 2021 VRC Worlds for 1:8 Nitro buggies will be raced with the so called Bump-Up format.

The Bump-Up format works as follows:

Qualifying is done in the normal way, the top-2 proceed directly to the Main Final round, and the numbers 3-42 will proceed to 4 Semi Finals. This Bump-Up format should make make Qualifying more important, you have to be in the top 42 to make it to the Semi's.

The numbers 1 and 2 from each Semi final will make it to the Main Final, only the top-10 racers will race in the Main Final.

This format was developed several years ago but hardly ever used, but we would like to use this Bump-Up format for one of the last 2021 VRC Worlds events, and evaluate afterwards how this format has been perceived. You can post your comments below.

there are pro's and con's to this format, let's see how it works out. It is more like real world, but on the other hand number of racers in semi's and main final is limited of course. Makes qualifying more important

OK from a bump up test event earlier, it looks like the semis will be seeded in an even distribution. 1-2 qualifiers directly to main, semis filled this way:
a: 3-7-11-...
b: 4-8-12-...
c: 5-9-13-...
d: 6-10-14-...

I think that is a very important question. If it is sorted by time, then only 2 from the top 10 will have a chance in the A group, 2 from the B group who are most likely slower than everybody from the A group will get in, and so on, ending with 2 from the D group that are laps down getting into the final. I hope it is not this way.



Its not very bad thing if its this way. It will mean that only 4 top drivers will be in A main but it will bring some live to other mains. But it would be better if itvwas real bump up system , in wich people advance from D>C , from C>B etc.
