2022 VRC WORLDS MODIFIED CLASSES

The events for the 2022 VRC Worlds modified classes have been published!

There are a few important changes to be noted:
- race duration for all nitro classes has been reduced from 60 minutes to max. 45 minutes
- race duration for all electric classes has been increased, this will force a battery change
- all 2022 VRC Worlds events, VRC Oval Worlds and VRC Dirt Oval Worlds will be using the bump-up race format

Bump-up race format
All 2022 VRC Worlds events for modified classes will use the 'bump-up' qualifying and semi-final system. The top-qualifier (TQ) will go straight to the Main Final, he will not race in the semi final. The nbrs. 2-31 after qualifying will be split up in 3 semi finals, 2-5-8-11 etc. to the first semi final, nbrs. 3-6-9-12 etc. to the 2nd semi final and 4-7-10-13 etc. to the 3rd semi final. From the 3 semi finals the numbers 1-2-3 will proceed to the Main Final.

Racers outside the top-31 after qualifying are finished for the event. Semi-final racers not qualified for the Main Final are finished after the Semi final. The overall classification will be made based on the round results and points for the rankings will be allocated accordingly.

Track selection
As we are working on a few new tracks at the moment we may change the track for certain events just before the start of the Worlds event...

Keep it realistic. None single user will take part more at the WC because of such changes.
Just thought to make it extra interesting by adding this new dimension. We have done this in the past with positive response!
Just for clarity, is a battery change mandatory? Or if someone drives real slow and can run 20 minutes skip doing a battery change?

if you ccan do without a battery change that's OK, it's not mandatory but just very likely. Same in nitro, you may also want to skip a fuel stop by setting up engine and transmission differently.

Posted by: Pieter Bervoets (NL) on 14.11.2022 9:00:10 (UTC) that's correct Graham. Makes Round 1 qualifying more interesting! On the flipside, when you are not in the top-31 you don't race anymore in the Worlds... We did not provide for consolation finals
Hi Pieter, just a detail missing: Is the TQ sure to start from 1st position in the Final? What happens if a driver makes a faster time in Semi than the one the TQ did in Qualif? Does he stay 1st or is placed further on the grid? Just wanted to be sure, or that the race setting are taking care of that point ;-) Edited by author: 10.12.2022 16:11:55 GMT

TQ starts inded from Pole as you could expect. Others will be seated based on finishing positions and results, so best nbr. 1 from semi's to position 2, 2nd best to 3, 3rd best to 4th etc.

Hi Pieter,
I am missing some Oval events.
I count 3 alltogehter, whereas there should be 5. At least GT3 is missing, or I can not find it.

Is it already published? If yes where is the link and which track is used?

I think the reason is because in real life there are several races in the finals, whereas I suppose that it is not feasible to be able to do it in the simulator.
