As long as there are clear rules I think it's OK. Like the Top 3 in a series, they should probably move up next time. And if you have several 95% records you probably don't belong in Club, even if it's your first race. But until you have the rules and a system to automatically enforce them, you can't really blame anyone.
And you're right, catching the most extreme differences is the key, while still giving guys a chance to get to a point where they can challenge for the win, and then move them up afterwards.

The only thing that has to be discussed and this could be a problem ... where is the break point?! And there will always be racers which might feel misthreated due to this automatism.
I think to avoid this you should only "auto-up" players which are "clearly" above this set barier and not those ones who are 1,2,5 seconds above. Something like that?

Nothing wrong with having everyone all together, that's cool. I think a lot of us look at the results that way anyway.
But you need classes if you're going to have achievements for pole or race win, etc. And to fix what Matt's talking about you need proper seeding before entering an event in the first place.
This could be based on best lap times/% laptime achievements. Simple and fair. Right now the "skill level" thing is broken. It just doesn't work at all.

It's pretty obvious why the points can't come with the racer if they move between Club, Sport and Pro class. That obviously would make the series points a big mess.
I've played VRC long enough to see that there is no good way to really make the current system work because you are always going to have strong racers in Club and Sport as they are new to the game, but not to RC racing.
Then at the end of this season, when the 2-5 guys do move up to Pro next season they will surely be replaced with 2-5 other guys that can compete at the Pro level anyway, but will run club or sport. It's the same thing every single season, there are always new guys that win by a lot in Club and Sport and could make the A-Main in Pro.
On top of this, you will have guys that won't move up because they are coming 5th or 6th and would be like 20th+ in Pro and won't want to move up because they never got their chance for a win anyway.
At the end of the day it's too bad the system isn't really working. I see what the goal of the system was, but I've always thought it was better how it was when VRC Pro first came out and everyone raced everyone.

Why is there a need to loose all points when changing to another class? Why can't they just keep them? The relatively worth of the points will be nivelated within the next few races anyways.

This might be the first race season for some of the fast drivers in club and sport as it is for me. If it is their first season I wouldn't call them a sand-bager. It's not fair unless they could move up to the Pro class and keep their points, which in turn wouldn't be fair for the Pros who ran the Pro class the whole season. If they don't move up to Pro class next season, then yes they are sand-bagers.
When I started the season I wasn't sure as to which class to enter because I wasn't sure how I ranked with the other drivers. Now that I'm doing well in Sport class I wish I would have entered the Pro class at the start of the season. I would rather chase the fast guys than be chased by the slow guys.
I sure hope VRC makes it mandatory for all A-main season finishers to move up to the next class.

Everybody starts in club!
So the fast guys in club are very good!
Just like the pro class!
Next year they are sport. Than i have a change ;)

Agree, don't know why VRI isn't doing something to let this happen automatically to everybody. At least in the obious cases ... take a look a club class ... it's a farce
