Start by learning using the spec motors and progress until you realise a faster motor may not mean a faster time. I've raced some multiplayer where people are using the 4.5 motor and simply being extremely quick between crashes. Constant crashing is also very frustrating and soul destroying.

And you will enjoy the learning

The 5.5T is a good motor for running carpet2 or TCM.
