VRC Management reply to us regarding Live Races

Hello PDNR Members.
if by live race you mean more players racing at the same time together, the only way at the moment is to create multiplayer session, you can password protect it and let members know the password in advance, if you want to avoid being interrupted by random non-club racers in those sessions. Unfortunately we do not have structure to combine event rounds system together with multiplayer yet, so here are some recommendations from me:
- use team speak for organizing people in races (if you do not have own, you can use our VRC dedicated on voice.vrcworld.com)
- multiplayer session host has to be somebody with best internet connection, upstream bandwidth is crucial there, it doesn't need to be you, if you have a member with better internet
- so far we have not yet released version with pure MP session hosting, so still each time also session host is part of race, so if he's not to be racing that particular round, he's supposed to move his car to some corner to avoid collisions with others, then at the end of race just finish his lap to close the race properly for all others
- multiplayer host should have opened port 26381 UDP to ensure best possible connectivity of other multiplayer session participants with him
- for 'pure' multiplayer event you need to manage scores and rounds with participants separately by yourself
- or you can create club event and let's say all rounds except last one to have like event offline, then you would set last round as ABC mode final type, so you will have results of all previous rounds, people from them separated into 'heats' by 10 and you can use that list as a starting list for hosted multiplayer sessions, something like that

I hope that has answered at least some of your questions, if you need to know anything more, please let me know by posting here.

Thanks,
Lubo

Looks like Multiplayer is the go. With the PDNR members with the best 'upstream bandwidth ' hosting. Depending on amount of players , for example , if we got 20 racers on Saturday night = 2 hosts (with good internet connections). So now we need to vote. Saturday or Friday? 6pm or 7pm?
