A series of interviews with the best ‘virtual’ r/c racers in the world…
Hi Dana,
Congratulations with your 2022 VRC Worlds title 1:12 sportscars, I lost count how many you've won already but surely you're them man to beat in 12th. It again and again amazes me when I watch the replays and the video’s how fast and consistent you are able to race in VRC.
VRC: When and how did you get started in r/c and what class did you race in the beginning? And what was your very first r/c racing car?
Dana: I started racing around 1987 right around the time the Losi JRX-T came out which was my first racing car. I raced it off-road, dirt oval, carpet oval and even paved oval.
VRC: Did you start racing all by yourself or was it a typical ‘father and son’ effort? And if so, was your dad involved in r/c racing before as a racer or mechanic for someone else?
Dana: I started racing by myself. I worked for my Dad but I still “borrowed” some money now and then for some new killer packs. My dad comes to more of my... read more

A series of interviews with the best 2022 ‘virtual’ r/c racers in the world…
Wiktor, congratulations winning the 2022 VRC Worlds 1:10 Short Course Trucks at Rhein-Main in Germany. Such an exciting finish! But let me start with how you got involved in radio-controlled racing.
VRC: When and how did you get started in r/c and what class did you race in the beginning?
Wiktor: I started in 2017, 11 years old, because of my father, my first car was a Tamiya I don't know which model, but I think it was a TT-02
VRC: Did you start racing all by yourself or was it a typical ‘father and son’ effort? And if so, was your dad involved in r/c racing before as a racer or mechanic for someone else?
Wiktor: It was a typical father and son effort, my dad was the mechanic since the very first battery I drove, he always said he doesn't enjoy the driving as much as he does enjoy watching me fighting with others on track
VRC: How long did it take you to become an accomplished r/c racer? What classes do you race now, a... read more

Hi Balint!
Congratulations with your 2022 VRC Worlds championship title winning the 1:8 electric RallyX class. A convincing victory at this spectacular class!
VRC: When and how did you get started in r/c and what class did you race in the beginning? And what was your very first r/c racing car?
Balint: I started when I was 9 years old in 2008 with 1:10 touring cars and 1:8 nitro Truggy. My first race was a club race in my home town in Debrecen.
VRC: Did you start racing all by yourself or was it a typical ‘father and son’ effort? And if so, was your dad involved in r/c racing before as a racer or mechanic for someone else?
Balint: Yes, it was a typical father and son hobby. My dad was only my mechanic.
VRC: How long did it take you to become an accomplished r/c racer? What classes do you race now, and what is your favorite class now?
Balint. I think 2 years after I started, I was the East Hungarian champion in the spec... read more

I want to close off the discussion about the Lifetime subscription with a short evaluation of the many many comments I received.
It has become obvious to me that the VRC members have a wrong perception of what VRC is all about, how it was developed, our team of developers, cost and most of all what you can expect of VRC in the future. Here it is in a nutshell.
HOW VRC CAME ABOUT
I have pointed this out in my many columns (which aren't finished yet...) 'VRC - the inside story'. If you would have taken the time to read it you would understand much better how this whole project came about.
It was started in 1995 with the idea of developing a 'game port adapter' to control full size racing car games like Indycar Racing and NASCAR, in an effort to break into this fast developing new market with a radio control transmitter, trying to connect r/c with racing games. In those days mainly joysticks were used to control the cars.

By sheer coincidence I came in contact with Lothar ... read more

Dear VRC member,
I have learned a lesson for sure. This is the first time I experienced how social media can very quickly be mobilized and turned against you. There were many negative comments, but also many in support of VRC for which I thank you.
The other lesson I learned is that apparently there are many VRC members who still value our platform so such, to an extend that they would really be frustrated to see their long time pending Lifetime All-Inclusive subscription taken away from them. I take that as a positive!
This weekend I have seriously reconsidered my earlier decision and have decided to drop the idea of ending or freezing the Lifetime subscription all together. I hope that this will end this discussion.
My apologies to those members who felt really offended by my earlier announcement. I can only hope that many of you are now encouraged to pick up your transmitter and turn on VRC Pro again, and to actively use our platform in the future.
I have received many emails and comment re... read more
