BUMP-UP SYSTEM ISSUES CORRECTED

19.12.2022   5 comments   Category: Site news

There were some issues reported related to the Bump-up system used for all classes of the 2022 VRC Worlds modified classes. These issues were related to how the bump-up system was configured for these Worlds events. After consultation with the developer who programmed the bump-up system (many years ago...) I have now been able to correct the settings for all events which had the semi-finals start today or later.

The affected 2022 Worlds events are:
2022 VRC WORLDS 1:8 RALLY-X
2022 VRC WORLDS 1:12 ELECTRIC SPORTSCARS
2022 VRC WORLDS 1:10 NITRO SEDANS
2022 VRC OVAL WORLDS 1:10 ELECTRIC NASCAR TRUCKS
2022 VRC DIRT OVAL WORLDS 1:10 SC TRUCKS
2022 VRC DIRT OVAL WORLDS ELECTRIC BUGGIES

I sincerely apologize for this mistake, especially to racers whose results may have been affected. These structures are quite complex and as this was the first time the Bump-up system was used throughout the current Worlds events a small configuration error is easily made. I have taken measures to make sure this mistake ... read more

In the past months I have been working on updating the chassis to 2023 IFMAR/EFRA technical rules, with lower weight at 2350 grams and with the reduced weight also come lower yaw, pitch and roll inertias. This makes the chassis a lot more responsive. Since 2010 a lot of rotating weight has been saved with the use of lighter materials like graphite, titanium and ultra-light CNC machined parts which has resulted in lower inertias of all the rotating transmission parts in the car. This has a noticeable effect on acceleration. The 2-speed gear/pinion range will be extended to reach significant higher top speeds on long tracks like XTR, Lostallo and Melzo.

Also a lot of work has been done on the XTEC .21 engine and much progress is made with torque and raw power, even now running with 16% nitro. This is achieved by carefully adjust several key engine parameters which affect timing and combustion, more or less as what's done with real engines. Our physics model of the nitro engine contains over 60 performance re... read more

Thanks to all racers who have participated in the 2 test events for the XTR LT1 track!

Now that the test events are over we have released a new scaled-up version (125%) of XTR LT. This brings the track width to around 4m which is what you would expect.

Pls. continue testing this new version and report your findings in the Comments section below this news item.

Known issue:
- ignore corner cutting warnings for now, we are working on an update of the segments map
- pit table objects are stretched
- start positions normal direction 3-10 require adjustments

We will continue to do updates and inform you in the comments section below.
