2017 SEASON 2 1:10 NITRO SEDANS SPEC ROUND 3 Atsugi 2

19.09.2017

Report by J-P.Huhtala

2017 SEASON 2 1:10 NITRO SEDANS SPEC ROUND 3 Atsugi 2

PRO level

Atsugi 2 was hosting third round race of 1:10 nitro sedan spec serie. In gualifying Graham Raistrick was setting the pace to others. Hitting that great result, with average 13.6, he was only one who managed to get on 23rd lap. Second place was driven by Alejandro Prieto, but he was way back from ”Racetricks” pace, over 10 seconds with average 14.0. Portuguese Nuno Lourenco was third, 1.2 second behind Prieto. Manuel Weber was fourth and Izidor Tratnik fifth.
Serie leader Massimiliano Tanturri was sixth fastest, and he needed to find something to his pace, if he wanted to hold his lead at overall points.

As the horn shouted for the main, three drivers were separated from the rest of the pack. Raistrick, Lourenco and Tanturri were those three, who had very similar start. Even Raistrick had won the qualifying with his overwhelming style, and expectations for the win were on his side, Lourenco and Tanturri had very similar pace from the start. Raistrick was leading this trio first 24 laps, when Lourenco got the lead. Tanturri had kept his pace all long and was on third spot. From this point Massimiliano lost his rhytm and his laptimes little pit dropped. He was hitting mostly high 13 second laps against Raistrick`s and Lourenco`s mid 13 seconds. So, this was going to be Graham`s and Nuno`s fight. Later stage of the final, Lourenco showed his skills at this track. He is master of this circuit, and his consistency and laptimes certainly proved it. Looking of his last 30 laps, it was something incredible at this demanding circuit. Lourenco crossed the line in first place, Raistrick was second, over 5 seconds behind. Tanturri was third, almost 16 seconds behind Raistrick.

Lourenco and Raistrick had good fight

SPORT level

Steve Young set the pace others at SPORT level qualifying. Valeriy Kornilov was second, 2.2 seconds away from Young`s pace. Third fastest was Christos Katsigiannis, but he was allready over 10 seconds behind Kornilov`s pace. SO, it was looking two mans deal.
At the main, Young was on his own. His average was half second faster than his qualy average and this secured his win in here. Kornilov was second, but was pressured really hard by Isla Pesca. Pesca at third spot, had done his practice for this circuit and was in very good pace. Finally Pesca had to settle to third place, 1.4 seconds behind Kornilov.

Young showed his true pace at the main

CLUB level

At CLUB level we saw very frustrating race, because there was only three drivers who crossed the finishline. Michael Zappa won both, qualifying and race. He was on his own pace at race, as the second place driver Robert Dean was 24 seconds behind when race ended. Raphael Gall was third.

Zappa had time for some acropatic moves
