MARKKU HONKANEN GRABS 1:8 NITRO BUGGY VRC WORLDS TITLE

Finnish Markku Honkanen has won the 60 minute long A-Main final of the 2016 VRC Worlds for 1:8 nitro buggies at RC Tracks of Las Vegas. It was a hard fought win over Warren Jones from the US who had to settle for 2nd after several challenges for the lead but Honkanen was the more consitent driver on the finish line. James Le Pavoux from the UK finished 3rd over a lap down from the 2 front runners to complete the 2016 Worlds podium. Worth noting: Honkanen pitted 4 times, Jones 5 times, a good pit strategy does pay off...

The demanding RC Tracks of Las Vegas surely took its toll with all the bumps and holes that were present on the virtual Las Vegas track just like they were during the real IFMAR Worlds in October 2016. David Ronnefalk who was earlier crowned VRC World Champion 1:8 electric buggies on the same track was the big absentee in this main final. Although qualifying 4th he wasn't able to make the finals due to retuning ill from an oversees promotion trip just before Christmas. With his 60 mi... read more

Warren Jones from the USA has captured his first VRC World title in 1:8 scale electric buggies Spec class at RC Tracks of Las Vegas. It wasn't a flawless run at all but he had the speed to repair the mistakes and was able to fight his way back to the lead on the finish line. Peter Knight and IFMAR and VRC World Champion David Ronnefalk from Sweden battled for the remaining 2 podium places, with Peter slipping by David just before the finish line to claim second.

DAVID RONNEFALK CLAIMS FIRST VRC WORLD TITLE

2016 IFMAR World Champion David Ronnefalk from Sweden has claimed his first VRC World Championship title by winning the 15 minute long A-Main open final 1:8 electric buggies at the RC Tracks of Las Vegas off-road track, the very same track Ronnefalk won his IFMAR Worlds title 3 months before.

2014 VRC World Champion Marcin Maliński from Poland took second 2nd some 9 seconds back on Ronnefalk, and pole-sitter Warren Jones from the US snatched away 3rd from Swede Robert Hillman in the very last corner.

For David Ronnefalk it was a 'take off and never look back' final without too many trouble. Warren Jones had the speed but got himself in trouble just too often, clearly lacking the consistency that David demonstrated with his commanding lead. Just 3 laps before the end Jones was back in 5th but managed to clinch 3rd place right on the finish line.
