PLANNING 2018 VRC WORLDS SEASON

19.09.2018   Category: Site news

I am currently planning the 2018 VRC Worlds Season which will start at the end of Season 2, around middle of November.

As a trial we have integrated half of the 2018 VRC Worlds events in Season 1, which was not appreciated a lot by the VRC racing communitiy, but as they were planned and raced these VRC Worlds results stand and the winners are the 2018 VRC World Champions in these classes.

We are now considering to run a full 2018 VRC Worlds program for all classes to have a full schedule as before, which would mean also running the classes already ran in Season 1, but these events would not have Worlds status, we cannot have 2 World Champions in the same class in the same year, of course...

These events could be named '2018 VRC Worlds Revenge' or something like this, but would be kind of stand alone events without a title.
The alternative would be to skip this idea and just to run the 2018 VRC Worlds for the classes which haven't been run in Season 1, see the list below:

2018 VRC WORLDS CLASSES
1:8 NITRO BUGGIES SPEC
1:8 ELECTRIC BUGGIES
1:10 SC TRUCKS
1:8 RALLY X SPEC
1:10 ELECTRIC TC 13.5T SPEC
1:12 SPORTSCARS
1:8 NITRO SPORTSCARS SPEC
1:10 NITRO SEDANS

Before starting this planning I would like to receive some feedback on these ideas, whether to just run the remaining classes or also do a 'Revenge' series of earlier run 2018 VRC Worlds events.

I know it is a bit messy, but I rather make up for a bad decision than to ignore it completely. Post your comments and feedback below until end of this month. I will then decide what to do.

Thanks, Pieter

Late reply - Rostrum only

I prefer rostrum view but don't really mind.
A better sense of achievement for me personally. But do rather the fixed rostrum view. Its the way it should be played

To be clear, I'm not arguing about how RC Cars should be driven either in VRC or real life, it's obvious, from the 'Driver's Stand".

Unfortunately, for some of us, the computer screen doesn't allow us to get a good perspective of the direcction of the car while driving at high speed. This situation takes away the whole porpouse of racing...

My humble suggestion is to add official events / Modified classes, with "Free View" option. (doesn't have to be the Worlds races) but for the season series, this will give us more options to participate in offial events through the year.

Sorry in advance but, my friend who was one of the fastest TC drivers in Finland, past away few years ago. He had fantastic sentence to this "free view" issue and said allways "in wich point, people has started to run behind rc cars"...haha. Ok, theres some vids in internet where guys actually are running behind rc cars when they drive those "rally stage" races. Despite it looks very funny, it might be fun to test. Real RC racers use rostroom view, no doubt.

Just add everybody in same results, but finally separate those result to RV=rostroom view FV=follow view groups. But this maybe needs to be done by new update with coders.

"Free rostrum view" still limiting the numbers...
What about running 2 different event/race for every Mod class, one in "Free View" and the other one in "Rostrum view" could be simultaneously or in different dates. The number of entries in each one could demonstrate what people prefers.

Also if official events for mod classes were available in both formats, I could enter the one with "free view". I'm sure there will be many more like me...

Good question, Kevin! I was wondering just the same.

I agree with Warren in 2017 too many WC's all at once, the new arrangement for 2019 with a Spec set at the end of Season1 and the Modified set at the end of the year is great. For 2018 running out the remaining 8 WC's should boost numbers and the 3 Nascar events will be plenty. (Please allow free view position for Nascar WC's) (In 2019 Nascar can be freeview for Spec and 'Rostrum only' for modified, beware the numbers for the 'Rostrum only' events could drop to single figures). I think drivers should try and help boost other classes from time to time.

Posted by: Stephen Halliday (AU) on 25.9.2018 0:02:32 (UTC) Why has the 1/10 electric Nastruck worlds been turned into a normal round now & after the event has started ?????
I have changed the status of the 3 Nascar VRC Worlds events to regular Series events, these classes will have thereir own separate VRC Worlds event during the VRC Worlds Season starting middle of November. With these extra 3 Worlds events we would have a total of 11 VRC Worlds in that period, no need to organize these 'Worlds revenge' events I suggested. So it will only be the 8 VRC Worlds still scheduled, plus these 3 Nascar Worlds. 2019 I like the suggestion made by Warren to run the Spec and Modified VRC Worlds separately, I will plan this for 2019. The Spec VRC Worlds will be run somewhere around April, during a 4-5 week break of Season 1. The Open or Modified Worlds events will be scheduled at the end of Season 2 starting end of November till end of December. So 2 VRC Worlds seasons in 2019, one for Spec classes, and one for Open classes. I think this will be an interesting format for years to come. This year was messy, sorry for that...

Thanks for clearing that up .

I only hope that they are all on ovals as we have enough events on normal tracks ( plus gives us oval racers something to look forward to after a year of racing & we can still be competitive )
