11 Year old Maarten Wouters, son of long time VRC racer Joost Wouters, has won the 2018 Tamiya Euro Cup in Germany in 1:10 ISTC Standard class. Maarten started r/c racing at the age of 4, and has spent numerous hours on VRC to hone his skills and strengthen his nerves, just like Ronald Völker did in his early years in r/c.
A remarkable achievement for the 11 year old, stepping in the footsteps of Ronald Völker, and Marc and Tony Reinhard who went on to become Euro and World Champions in 1:10 electric touring car racing.
We congratulate the Wouters family with this fantastic achievement, keep us posted on Joost's r/c racing carreer.

Thank you, Billy. Becoming Word Champion is his dream indeed. He was watching in Heemstede, when dutch Jilles Groskamp became World Champion ISTC in 2012. That's still a long way to go for Maarten. He takes it step by step and is still at the beginning. We will see, how far he manages.

Thank you, Kevin. I was indeed one of the pit crew, but not alone; with the support of some other enthousiastic drivers of Tamiya Team Netherlands we were able to offer Maarten best chances possible.
Maarten is best proof of the effectivity of VRC Pro. We never train on real tracks, only do the races there; to save time, fuel (for the real car that brings us there), tires, spares and wear. Maarten uses VRC Pro to enhance his performance.
Last weekend Maarten managed to become champion again, this time in the Belgium-Netherlands final in the faster class Tamiya Euro-TW. You can see the race report here: http://www.redrc.net/2018/09/tamiya-benelux-final-race-report/#more-156205
At Saturday afternoon Maarten drove the loaned car for the first time. At Sunday he won the category.
