GT3 CLASS - BUMP-UP FINALS - SUPPORT AND BUG FIXING

SNEAK PREVIEW OF FUTURE PROJECTS

GT3 CLASS
We are currenly working on a 1:8 scale nitro GT3 class based on the 1:8 nitro on-road chassis. The GT3 car uses front and rear differentials and rubber tires to create a different driving experience at about 90% of the performance level of the 1:8 nitro sportscar class. This new class should be easy and fun to drive and therefore will have very limited setup options. We expect to see some very exciting racing in this new class. Release is planned for the 2017 VRC Worlds.

BUMP-UP FINALS
We are working an an alternative race format with bump-up semi finals. In short, after qualifying the top 1...4 will proceed directly to the main final, others will be split up in 2..6 semi finals from which the winners or first 2 will proceed to the main final. We are designing the new format in such a way that we are flexible in the number of direct main finalists and number of semi finals. We expect that this new 'bump-up' format will inject new enthusiasm into our on-line competitions and will have a long lasting effect for the VRC Pro platform. We hope to be able to run a few test events in October and to have it fully implemented and ready to be used for the 2017 VRC Worlds.

LIMITED SUPPORT AND BUG FIXING

The VRC Pro platform is a very complex set of game software and racing services. The current level of our game and website services is of a very high standard although not perfect. We have no doubt that the quality of our current services can and will be maintained also in the future.

Given the current revenue levels we have to be extremely cautious where we spend our money, development, content, server hosting and maintenance, bug fixing etc. We simply can't continue to do everything like in the past and have to make choices. Since 2017 our team of developers is no longer available on full-time bases and can only be called upon for system critical issues.

We will have to limit technical support and bug fixing to only game and website critical issues. Smaller, not critical issues will be addressed with low priority, if addressed at all. I am therefore asking you for your understanding if some of your support requests can no longer be addressed.

Despite this little set-back we count on your continued support for the ultimate virtual r/c racing platform: VRC PRO

I started a thread in the forums to discuss ideas for the format of the SEMI FINAL/BUMP UP ROUND. Pieter and others, please check it out & share your ideas.

actually the hard part is making it fit the way VRC works since VRC is time trial and all races are simultaneous.

anyway, I think maybe you don't understand the bump up format completely either (or maybe it isn't totally clear what the system will be based on your description).

it seems your suggestion could be improved because in your system not everyone gets to run the middle round and the final round is only for a few guys as well.

I gave some ideas last time where the middle round is an actual semi-final round that everybody runs with bump ups built in, and the finals are run by everybody too.

So that would be a better system than you're proposing for a start.

There are also many different ways that could be explored about how the bump up round works... too much to type here in this message but it would be nice if you tried a few things and engaged feedback from the players on what works best. it's actually not so simple and obvious as you make it seem... well, not if you want to get the most logical and fun system!

your system right now sounds interesting and will give some variety to the usual way, but could be improved a lot I think.

I like the current two round (qualifying and final) but am interested to see this new format and see how it works out.

it will be an alternative to the current system, not a replacement. We plan to use it for the 2017 VRC Worlds. One obvious difference will be that there will only 1 main final, the 'Super Final' for just 10 drivers. It's like that in the real world as well...

Hopefully you'll get some good suggestions from players. There are probably a few different ways that middle rounds could be formatted to make it fun & still mean something, so this is a great opportunity to listen to suggestions and try a few things, which I hope you do.

The bump-up format is well know and we are working to implement that. That's by the way easily 2 weeks work plus testing... I assume that when it's implemented as I designed it we will have enough flexibility to play with direct qualifyers and bump-up semi finals. It shouldn't be necessary to change the structure itself because that would mean I got it wring in the first place. Testing will be mainly to see if all works as planned, also on final sorting, points allocation etc.

Well, that's what I'm thinking about these 3 topics and I hope the post will last this time.

1. Nice

2. Outstanding

3. No comment or better say self-censored

A pity that critical comments are removed by Pieter.
