2013 SEASON 3 STARTS JULY 6TH

01.07.2013   Category: Site news

Season 3 is just a few days away, the racing calender is now published and so you can check out the Series pages and find out which tracks will be visited in Season 3 with your favorite class(es).

In on-road 4 new tracks are planned to be visited. Boss Speed in Tokyo, Melzo in Italy, Lloret de Mar in Spain and Cincinnatti in the US. For the short course series the 2013 lay-out at RC Excitement will be added to the list of off-road tracks. Other releases will be postponed until 1:8 nitro buggies will be released.

Changes in Season 3

We have implemented some significant changes for Season 3. The most important one is the introduction of 3 racer classes: Club, Sports and Pro. The class you race in will be based on the skill level we measure during all your racing activities. When you do better than average compared to other racers with the same skill level your rating goes up, when you perform less your rating goes down. Of course you will stay in the same racer class for the whole season (for all classes your racer class will be the same by the way...). If you decide to change to a higher class you may do so during the season but you will loose all the points you have earned during the season. The big advantage of the new racer class system is that you will now compete on your own level and will be able to score good results in your own class which is much more encouraging then to finish 50th or 100th overall.

The points table has been changed back to how it was in Season 1, so no extra points for the top-3 finishers in each main final.

Finally, the ranking system has been left unchanged, but the number of events that count for the ranking period has been doubled to reflect a more long-term ranking. The ranking will be calculated per racer class, when you change to another class your ranking points will be lost of course.

We hope Season 3 will see some very exciting racing again and we wish you all a great and eventful season.

Pieter

Funny, because I typically aim for you, Josh, or Tom, whoever is the fastest. ;)

I'd like to say I aim for being the fastest Canadian, but that Matthew is WAY too fast! :D

Unfortunately it is still being displayed, however the actual procedure for allocating vEuros is not executed anymore. We'll soon remove the entire prizemoney field and update the event page. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for clarifying.

Magnus I was exactly in the same page as you and seemed totally illogical the return of veuros.

Tim thank you for the answer, it was needed!

I sure hope the prizes listed in the events is a mistake. When the account model was changed to all-inclusive/F2P the vEuros were removed from the events. Now they are back again! I have just payed 150 real Euros for the unlimited all-inclusive membership just because the ability to earn vEuros was removed... Please VRI, make up your mind on how its going to be and communicate it.

Very much looking forward to this! With our local club racing, I have always been in the middle of the pack, racing with some amazing drivers. With a larger pool of racers, I expect to either have the privilege of being at the top of the middle pack, or the bottom of the top pack (being the slowest in the Pro class is just as important to me as winning races in the Sportsman class!)

One thing I have always loved about VRC was the close competition at any level....

With club racing IRL, there is usually a small group of great drivers and a small group of OK drivers, and a small group of....not-so-good drivers....

With VRC, no matter what level you are at, there is a large group of racers at your own level. I often see Tom, Josh, Donald, Phillip, Nick and Uwe either in my qualifying or finals group, all within a few seconds of my time. Great that I will actually be competing with them for a different level of championship, rather than battling for some "middle-of-the-pack" position.

Panos - They allow you to purchase tracks and components for use if/when you drop to F2P.

For some people, F2P with purchased tracks is more affordable than the all-inclusive. Especially if you are just starting out and only really care to practice one or two classes. (At the moment, especially offroad, though I expect that to change once 1/8 Buggy IC and E are released.)

Posted by: Magnus Hansson (SE) on 1.7.2013 19:54:28 (UTC) Hmmm... I thought you were going to change the point system for this season. I don't think it is fair that 1st place in B-final should have the same points as 6th place in the A-final. If you are not among the top 5 drivers in your class you will probably do better if you are a bit tactic and ensure that you not make the A-final... I have never seen this point system in real life and I don't like it at all. :( Edited by author: 1.7.2013 19:55:46 GMT
