BORN TO RACE...
I remember a time when all I had was a bag of marbles and a combination of hot wheels and sizzler tracks. I was at my grandmother’s house on a rainy Saturday morning. I separated the marbles by colors and styles and then began running heat races on my custom built tracks. The winner went straight to the main event while the rest went into the semi bucket. My little hands could hold 6 marbles at a time so that is how many got to race at once. The event took all day, heat races, semi’s and main events. In the end only one marble would be the champion. That is how racing is, first place is first place and second is the first loser, never the less it is fun to be in the race.

I have to keep this in mind when I speak like I did in the last article, when I mentioned pretend racing. Racers are born we race what we have, we race from one light to the next, we plan our route and we race through life. When we get to the track; life can slow down while we race. No matter where you are or what the vehicle it is as real as it gets because racing is a state of mind.

VRC is one place that allows racers to slow down and race, this week I participated in the 1/10 scale 200mm Touring Car at Kyosho works track, Atsugi (near Tokyo) Japan. I also traveled to Texas to compete for the championship on the dirt at Mikes 2. In the same day I slowed down to race in Tokyo and Texas. This is only possible in VRC.

The local Yokel
The Last article I spoke about my local track and of course that was one conversation with one person, I also judged the competition by who was there that week. I must have been in a bad mood when I wrote that because the fact is my local track is awesome. The layout and track prep is on par with the best in the world. This week they had 70 drivers in 10 races and the competition was great. We have a few factory guys that make the show on a weekly basis and I would imagine that they would do well in VRC. Ryan Lutz has been out from time to time I actually bought one of his cars once upon a time.

I was riding bikes with some guys yesterday, rocking my AMAIN Hobbies T-Shirt, naturally that sparked a conversation about RC cars. Brian is a helicopter pilot for the California High Way Patrol but more than that he is a born racer. He races RC cars, Motocross, and is a skilled Mountain bike rider. We rode for an hour and a half put in a hard 12 miles and got back to the cars. I went home to die. He went home loaded up his Motocross bike and went to Competitive Edge Motocross park to do some moto. He probably made it to the local RC track coyote hobbies for some RC racing after that. Born racers have to get to a track to slow down and race.

Brian may spend a couple hundred dollars today satisfying his BORN Racer. I logged in to VRC and satisfied mine.

VRC LIVE
One side note; while VRC is developing the Live racing options in the multiplayer format a few of us could not wait so we are doing it with minimal tools. We are running live multi-player events for anyone who wants to join us on Sunday nights. 6PM Pacific Standard Time, the events right now will be on Mikes 1 each week for off road and VRC Carpet 1 for on road. The Schedule will alternate each week:

2 heat races and Bump up style Main Events.
15 Minute A-Mains

Come on out and give it a try!

Remember TCR "Total Control Racing", Slot car style tracks with car you could steer...

I was all about the Tyco Slot car tracks when I was a kid. I still remember the smell of those engines cooking and cars sparking. A single set would never last too long. I kept Toys R Us in business buying those sets and cars when a kid.
