2018 SEASON CHANGES

03.01.2018   Category: Site news

THE VRC TEAM WISHES YOU ALL THE BEST FOR 2018 AND OF COURSE A GREAT VRC SEASON

The 2017 VRC Worlds is over, 2018 Season 1 is about to start.

We have more and more classes and as a result of that we have seen a significant drop in participation in the Series events, and especially in the participation in the Main finals. Our assumption is that the event schedule is probably too crowded.

SERIES
We are therefore considering a major change in the event calendar. The basic idea is to split up the series in similar categories and spread them over 2 seasons.

For example:
Season 1: 1:8 nitro buggies Mod and 1:8 electric buggies Spec
Season 2: 1:8 nitro buggies Spec and 1:8 electric buggies Mod

We can do the same with Short Course Trucks and RallyX, 1:10 electric ISTC and 1:12 electric Sportscars, and between 1:8 nitro Sportscars, nitro GT3 and 1:10 nitro sedans.

This new schedule means that you would still get to race all the classes in 1 season, but spread over Spec and Modified.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
We plan to integrate the World Championships into the Season calendar instead of compressing all the events in the last 6 weeks of the year. The Worlds Championships will be scheduled into the Series with of course maximum points to be earned for the Series and ranking. In this way we can spread the World Champions throughout Season 1 and Season 2.

The 2018 Season 1 calendar will be published on Friday January 5th, racing starts January 6th.

More racers together means closer competition & better participation. You can still be the Club winner, but in the race be battling it out with some Sport and Pro guys in your heat as well.

unfortunately the way the car classes are structured we can't easily combine different classes in 1 series, I already discussed that with the developers. At least we have combined rankings...

I just have a crazy idea:

"VRC Master Serie"
8 races, 6 counting
4x On-Road, 4x Off-Road
8 different car categories (all Modified)
8 different tracks

But not sure if the VRC Serie mode can manage that?

For 1:10 electric Touring car my wish list would be:
Outdoor:
Amstetten
Oslo
Osaka 1
Osaka 2
Kissimmee short
Kissimmee long

Indoor:
MB Models
VRC Carpet 6
VRC Carpet 7

The Osaka 1 track is nearly unused for racing!

We will stick with 3 racer classes, if you look at the Worlds results this is absolutely justified. I feel racing in 3 different classes gives everyone a reasonable chance to make the A-Main.

RH: That's fair :)

I think most of us below the top level, still hit the (All) link just to see where we are.
Spreading out the Worlds events and carefully sharing the other events will make it easier to fill up the grids.
As ever, we still have to encourage more people to get online and race. Great videos from the World's by the way.

I completely understand the reason for this. For me the Worlds is a one off in the year and should be one racer class to decide the best racer in the class. Agree it doesn't need to be in December but are peoples racing calendar less packed in December? I know mine is.

No problem, Reece. It was my first impression but maybe I don't favourize tracks like that. Probably a whole lot of more fun with foam tires but what do I know. Cheers! :-)

For 1:10 electric TC mod I would like to see Tokyo SPL 1 in the race calendar if possible? :-)
