you can only do this when you create the Steam VRC account by using the same email address as used for your std. VRC account. You are then asked to merge or not. We can't do it afterwards as we can't control the Steam side of it.
Thanks, Pieter. My email addresses for both accounts are the same. I've had my Steam account for a long time though. Is it something that can be done then? Thanks!

yes you can do this, make sure to use the same email address for the Steam VRC account because only then the 2 accounts will be merged. You will have to purchase the Standard License on Steam though.

hopefully this can be answered here, cant find a better place to ask, if i have the free to play version from VRC's website can i purchase expansions on steam without VRC being on steam?

i´m not sure if i´m stupid but did not really get if they meant the full game with all set-up variations or just a part of the game. anyone who knows something about that?
