2017 SEASON 2 1:8 NITRO BUGGIES SPEC ROUND 3 IBR Padova

PRO level

IBR Padova hosted 3rd round race of 1:8 nitro buggy spec serie. At PRO level American Ely Rojas was setting the pace at qualifying and took the pole with half second distance to another American, Tom Rinderknecht. Third fastest was Tommi Vacklin from Finland, 2.3 second away from TQ pace. Behind Vacklin, at fourth place was French Gaetan Anger. These all four top drivers were all inside 2.8 seconds.

When tone shouted for the start of the main, Rojas hold his position and got the lead. After four laps, Rojas made his mistake at midfield, flipped his car and Vacklin got the lead. Rojas dropped to fourth place.
Next laps showed how similar these drivers paces were, Vacklin was in the lead, Rinderknecht second, Anger third and Rojas at fourth place. Pace was very similar and nobody couldnt escape from this pack. Lap eleven solved something of this race, as Rinderknecht and Anger made their mistakes, Rinderknecht`s mistake took 4 seconds and Anger`s 8 seconds.
Now Vacklin and Rojas were in charge and with flawless run, this will solve between them.
Vacklin made his refuel at lap 14 and Rojas at 18th lap. After pitstops, Rojas was at lead by 2.4 seconds, Vacklin was chasing. Last laps Rojas and Vacklin had they ”mouse & cat” driving, and both had to push really hard. Even Rojas had poor two last laps, he survived and got the win with very tiny 0.2s distance to Vacklin. Rinderknecht crossed the line in thrid place, almost 5 seconds behind winner.
