VIRTUAL EURO NITRO SERIES 1:8 vs REAL ENS at FIORANO

31.10.2014   Category: Site news

We have done another comparison study, now between the virtual and the real Euro Nitro Series race on which we have reported already earlier because of the amazing 0.006 seconds difference between 'virtual' winner Jakub Rozycki and 'real' winner Lamberto Collari.'

We have compared the first few laps and some laps towards the end to compare speed, racing line, and also very important, the slip angle of the cars. Now this last is very difficult to measure, in fact there is no scientific data available so it is mainly guessing. Or is it? What we did in the past to study this is to play videos in slow motion but then reversed. This gives you an excellent view of the real slip angle of the car. In this video we have done this for the real and the virtual car and guess what: also these slip angles are extremely close.

And why is slip angle important? Because it is a very important factor concerning the 'feel' of the car. The other factors are acceleration and braking (trigger finger), initial turn-in into the corner (steering) and the steady state of the car during corner, which is about the balance.

This video reveals all 4 elements in great detail. Like with the buggy comparison video there it simply can't be denied how realistic virtual r/c racing has become over all these years. In the sim racing world, and especially among vehicle dynamics experts and physics engineers, it is widely recognized that VRC Pro's physics rank among the very best in the industry. Thanks to 14 years of relentless development by Mr. Physics Todd 'Doc' Wasson.

If we get a chance we will certainly do more comparison videos in the future for any of the other classes. In fact, we just need good video material of real races taking place on any of the tracks we already have in any of the classes we have. So keep an eye open for such videos and if you see one, let us know!

I do not know about you. but wen i driving VRc races is like in real. Full concentration, finger dry, deep breath, last test the Pit entry in the running-time and off we go. the exciting race and I am angry as in real if only I make a small mistake. I drive it always like in a real race. Which simulator can generate? only VRC

Your slip is almost modeled. All RC enthusiast should be a member of this fantastic simulator. And those who are not yet fans RC would have to be after seeing this show.
