CREATE YOUR OWN C7 PAINTJOB COMPETITION

16.04.2018   Category: Site news

At the release of the new C7 GT3 body we have announced to start a competition to create your own paintjob for this new body. I have created a new forum topic where you can post screenshots of the finished body.

To create your own paintjob you will need Photoshop and some experience using it. We are not going to start a tutorial here how to use paintjob. The template is available from: https://www.vrcworld.com/static/C7_Photoshop_template.psd

I suggest you create a copy of this file so you always have the original to turn back to.

Once you have created your paintjob you must save your design as a 2048x2048 pixel jpg called 'corvette template.jpg'

You can view your design with the free Autodesk 3D viewer (browser based) which can be downloaded from https://viewer.autodesk.com/.
You must create an account in order to use this viewer. The 'alpha' (used for holes and wheel arches) and the opacity (windscreens) aren't perfect, you should ignore that and not try to improve that. In the actual model in VRC it will be OK.

The Autodesk viewer will ask you to upload the file set needed for the viewer.
The files can be downloaded from: https://www.vrcworld.com/static/VRC_body_C7_for_Autodesk_Viewer.rar. Save these files in a separate folder.

To see your own 'paintjob' you must replace file 'corvette_template.jpg' with your own.

When you are satisfied with the design take some screenshots (top-right) and download these screenshots. You can show your design in the new foum: http://www.vrcworld.com/forums/posts.aspx?topic=207118&opt=1D1

Posted by: Tony West (GB) on 17.4.2018 11:58:41 (UTC) Small correction to what Pieter posted, you should replace the corv_dif.jpg image in the 3ds folder in order to see your work in the viewer.

Thanks for this useful info ~

Probably should point out that if you don't want to have to install photoshop then you can use GIMP which is a free alternative.

If anyone needs assistance just post in the forum and we will try and help out.

If you don't want to bother with the viewer and are a little more familiar with 3d software then I would suggest the blender software. The car body is available in other formats if you need it e.g. .max, .fbx
