The 278 m long Heemstede track was designed by Pieter Bervoets and built in 1982. The Model Auto Club Heemstede, one of the biggest clubs in Europe with 350 member, has hosted several major European and World events on this track. Italian Lamberto Collari won his first of 9 IFMAR World Championships on this track. The track was completely resurfaced in 2004, at the same time several infield curbes were flattened making the track very fast. The tricky part is the end of the back straight. Get this corner right and the following SS's are easy, get it wrong and you lose half a second or more. Website: http://www.mach.nl

STEAM POWERED race series 1:10 TOURINGCARS

HEEMSTEDE 1

QUALIFYING

Javi and Carlos Ferrando from Spain was showing great pace at Heemstede 1 track, this race was part of the STEAM POWERED race series. These two Spanish drivers pace was so good, that anyone couldn’t answer that ones. Gap between these two talents were only 0.3 seconds after qualifying. Finnish driver Viljami Kutvonen took the third grid, but it was over four seconds difference to the leader. OK, we could expect that guys from the back would get better since final would started.
Wood, Kalfoglou, Kirchefer, Caley, Raistrick, Nedrebo and Barranco were those chasers at back. Tough names.

FINAL

As the final started, atmosphere was totally collapsed when we witnessed a truly great driver lost.
Only five drivers participated to the final. And the final was two mans show. Javi and Carlos showed magnificent speed and consistency. Nobody hadn’t any weapons against these Spanish gladiators. Javi was leading all time at final, but Carlos didn’t want surrender and he was pressuring Javi with very close range. Both were fighting those 10ths of seconds, at the finishline Javi was only 0.9 seconds before Carlos.

Behind Carlos was coming Kalfoglou and Raistrick. Kalfoglou and Raistrick also had good battle of the last podium place. But Chris Kalfoglou from Australia, kept his nerves and beat this 54 years old Britains gent Graham Raistrick. At the finishline, difference was only half a seconds. Fifth place went to Matias Nedrebo from Norway.

At SPORT level race highest podium place went to Greece Phil Isaac. Isaac`s speed was good, with that speed and consistency, he could manage to take fifth place from PRO level race. Second and third places went to Germany`s Stefan Drdlicek and Indonesian`s Hijrah Saputra.

At CLUB level race winner was French Xavier Deparde, second Japan`s Seiya Inoue and third was Bord Patrice from France.
