RCE 2013 Setup added: 17.08.2013

Woohoo, 3DS is here and it will open up so many more options for the VRC Team. I am posting my setup and replay for the new RCE 2013 track which I personally feel is the best track in the game now.

This setup uses the Associated truck, honestly I haven't played in so long I don't even know if everyone has access to this truck or not with the new settings. So I will post a screenshot as well.

I don't like how they changed the brake total to 20% from 50% so instead of changing my radio, I just turned it back to 50% in the setup and my brakes are at 63% in my transmitter. I run with Vsync off as well.

Thanks for the input about the brake issue...I wish I had noticed that the last event I believe it may have helped my lap times at mike 3 reversed alot. The brake is important on this track as well certainly on that first left hander after long fast straight as well as other turns.

Thanks for the well thought out and helpful suggestions. I will definitely be trying your suggestions.

This setup is night and day better! Thank you for posting it up. Very good for driving smooth as described below, smooth is way faster.

This is a nice setup and have hit high 15 second laps with it. I have had problems with the truck not taking just a few of the turns as quick as I would like to but that can be due to my driving style so I have lowered the pinion to 14 or even 13 to make it a little more snappy on the turns. As well increasing the center diff will do the same effect but then you have problems with the truck getting out of shape too much if you run a little bit too hard. My fastest lap with the setup as David has posted is 15.8

Sounds to me like you are using far too much brake, not braking in a straight line, and holding the brake for too long. Instead of changing the setup, I think you would be better off removing some brakes and practice progressively removing throttle before applying brakes while in a straight line and progressively removing the brakes as you begin to enter the corner. It is all about smooth actions. This is why I posted my brake settings because it is very crucial.

By your description of the issues you have, it appears that you drive with little fluid (what 95% of the racers in RC do so not a bad thing). I come from an old teaching that smooth is fast, roll onto the throttle, slowly turn the steering into a corner and not all the way if you don't need it, slowly lift brakes if you start to put steering input into the vehicle, and so forth. Most racers now come from 4wd being their first class so they saw the wheel and mash the gas/brake. They never had to learn finesse.

I've been playing around with this some more. I've been having problems where the truck will hook around when almost stopped and on the brakes hard. Sometimes it's not noticeable, but sometimes I over brake for a corner and it puts my nose in the pipe, requiring a marshalling.

I found that turning the center diff up helps with this. I turned it up to 55% and it's much more stable for me braking into hairpins. It does make the truck a bit more sluggish, but my consistency has gone way up because of this. I'm not a great driver, so this might only help those that are kind of slow at the wheel.

The throttle off oversteer was just a bit too much for a mediocre driver like me. I lowered the rear spring load to 1.7mm and moved the rear hub spacing to back 1mm and the rotation slowed down just a bit so I could stay on top of it. Thanks for the great setup!

Thanks David,

Wow! I just took 1 lap, 4 seconds off my Mike's #1 with this set up. Nice job with this set up!
